Strategy

Lead–lag across the Kalshi 15-minute crypto markets: when Ethereum's 15-minute market (KXETH15M) has already moved and Bitcoin's (KXBTC15M) has not, trade Bitcoin in Ethereum's direction. Each run: in ONE step call get_markets({series: "KXETH15M"}) and get_markets({series: "KXBTC15M"}). If either period closes in under 6 minutes, do nothing. In the next step pull get_price_history(minute, limit 8) on BOTH markets and get_orderbook on the BTC market. If ETH's YES price moved at least 8 points in the last 5 minutes while BTC's moved less than 3 points in the same window, buy 5 BTC contracts on ETH's side (ETH up → BTC YES; ETH down → BTC NO), if the ask is between 30 and 80. This book moves several cents between your read and your order (15¢ in ten seconds is normal near the strike): set your limit 4 cents ABOVE the ask you saw — you still pay only displayed prices, and the order fills instead of resting. Otherwise do nothing. Never trade the ETH market. One position at a time. Sizing is FIXED: every order is exactly 5 contracts (results are compared across a fleet; do not size by conviction). Hold positions to settlement unless the strategy says otherwise. End with a short report: the market you looked at, the numbers you saw, and what you did.

Recent runs

4 stepsSep 2, 22:06 UTC

Run complete — no trade.

Reviewed the active ETH and BTC 15-minute markets closing at 22:15 UTC. ETH YES fell from 37¢ to 6.1¢ over the observed five-minute window (−30.9¢), while BTC YES fell from 48¢ to 13¢ (−35¢). BTC therefore also moved substantially, exceeding the required “less than 3¢” lag threshold. Its current YES ask was 11¢, outside the required 30–80¢ entry range.

No order was placed. Portfolio remains flat with 8651¢ cash and no resting orders. Next run should inspect the next active periods and recheck the lead–lag conditions.

4 stepsSep 2, 21:51 UTC

Run complete — no trade.

The active ETH and BTC 15-minute markets both close at 22:00 UTC, about 9 minutes away, satisfying the timing requirement. ETH YES fell from 25¢ to 11¢ over the observed five-minute window (−14¢), while BTC moved from 25¢ to 14¢ (−11¢), so BTC did not remain under the required 3¢ move. Additionally, the BTC YES ask was 14¢, outside the required 30–80¢ entry range. No order was placed.

Portfolio remains flat: 8651¢ cash, no positions, and no resting orders. Next run should inspect the next active periods and verify the lead–lag conditions before considering an entry.

3 stepsSep 2, 21:36 UTC

Run complete — no trade.

Active ETH and BTC 15-minute markets both close at 21:45 UTC, about 9 minutes away, so they passed the six-minute requirement. The current ETH YES quote was 35/36¢ and BTC was 41/42¢. I did not proceed because the required five-minute price histories and BTC order book could not be evaluated within the remaining run steps; entering without confirming the ≥8¢ ETH move and <3¢ BTC move would violate the strategy.

Portfolio remains flat: no positions, no resting orders. Next run should check the next active periods and verify the histories before considering an entry.

4 stepsSep 2, 21:21 UTC

Run complete — no trade.

Reviewed ETH and BTC 15-minute markets closing at 21:30 UTC, with roughly 9 minutes remaining. ETH YES moved from 28¢ to 23¢ over the latest five-minute window (−5¢), below the required 8¢ move. BTC moved from 31¢ to 31¢ (0¢), and its YES ask was 30¢, but the ETH movement condition failed.

No order was placed. Portfolio remains flat with no resting orders. Next run should check the next active periods and again verify remaining time, five-minute histories, and BTC order-book pricing.

4 stepsSep 2, 21:06 UTC

Run complete — no trade.

Active ETH and BTC 15-minute markets close at 21:15 UTC, leaving roughly 9 minutes. ETH YES fell from 34¢ to 23¢ over the latest five minutes (−11¢), satisfying the movement condition; BTC fell from 33¢ to 29¢ (−4¢), exceeding the required “less than 3¢” threshold. The lead–lag condition therefore failed. BTC YES ask was 28¢, also below the permitted 30–80¢ entry range.

No order was placed. No positions or resting orders remain. Next run should check the next active periods and again verify remaining time, five-minute history, and BTC ask/book before considering an entry.

4 stepsSep 2, 20:51 UTC

Run complete. Active ETH and BTC 15-minute markets both close at 21:00 UTC.

Recent YES history:

  • ETH: 34¢ at 20:46 to 68¢ at 20:51 (+34¢), but with sharp reversals.
  • BTC: 36¢ at 20:46 to 61¢ at 20:51 (+25¢), also highly volatile.

The required lead–lag condition was not present: BTC moved far more than the permitted 3¢ over the five-minute window. BTC YES ask was 58¢, within the price range, but no trade was justified. No order was placed; no positions or resting orders remain.

Next run should scan the next active periods, verify at least six minutes remain, then compare the latest five-minute ETH/BTC moves and BTC order book.

4 stepsSep 2, 20:36 UTC

Run complete. The active ETH and BTC 15-minute markets both close at 20:45 UTC, over six minutes away at the market scan, so they qualified for review.

ETH YES history over the recent window moved from 51¢ to 80¢ (approximately +29¢ over five minutes, with volatile intermediate prices). BTC moved from 52¢ to 74¢ (approximately +22¢), exceeding the permitted 3¢ threshold. Therefore the lead–lag signal was absent. BTC YES ask was 77¢, within the 30–80¢ range, but no trade was justified.

No order was placed. No positions or resting orders remain. Next run should check the next active periods and again verify close time, five-minute movements, and BTC ask.

4 stepsSep 2, 20:21 UTC

Run complete. ETH and BTC 15-minute markets close at 20:30 UTC, with about nine minutes remaining.

ETH YES moved from 17¢ at 20:20 to 40¢ at 20:21 (+23¢), while BTC moved from 23¢ to 48¢ (+25¢). BTC had already moved more than the permitted 3¢, so the required lead–lag signal was absent. The BTC YES ask was 57¢, within the 30–80¢ range, but the movement condition failed.

No trade was placed. No positions or resting orders remain. Next run should inspect the next active ETH/BTC periods and repeat the close-time, five-minute movement, and BTC ask checks.

4 stepsSep 2, 20:06 UTC

Run complete. Active ETH and BTC 15-minute markets close at 20:15 UTC, leaving about nine minutes.

ETH YES rose from 46¢ to 90.9¢ over the observed period, while BTC rose from 46¢ to 84¢. Over the latest five-minute window, ETH moved approximately +45¢ and BTC approximately +22¢, so BTC had already moved more than the permitted 3¢ and no lead-lag signal existed. The BTC YES ask was 91.4¢, outside the required 30–80¢ entry range.

No trade was placed. No positions or resting orders remain. Next run should inspect the next active ETH/BTC periods and repeat the timing, five-minute lead-lag, and BTC ask checks.

4 stepsSep 2, 19:51 UTC

Run complete. The active ETH and BTC 15-minute markets both close at 20:00 UTC, leaving about nine minutes—enough to evaluate the setup.

ETH YES history moved from 56¢ to 58¢ over the observed window, with substantial volatility (45–62¢); BTC moved from 49¢ to 56¢. Over the latest five-minute span, ETH moved about +1¢ and BTC about +8¢, so ETH did not lead BTC by the required 8-point versus under-3-point condition. BTC YES was around 68–69¢, within the permitted range, but there was no qualifying signal. No trade was placed; no positions or resting orders remain.

Next run should inspect the next active ETH/BTC periods and repeat the six-minute horizon, five-minute lead-lag, and BTC ask checks.
